Today morning I happened to see a video on Facebook. That inspired me to make this dal.
At home we do make khatti meethi Tur dal sweetened with sugar or jaggery.
This dal is a mix of tur , moong and masoor.
It's sweetened with khajur. The sweetness is balanced with lemon juice.
The mild sweetness imparted by khajur is very different from the sweetness imparted by sugar or jaggery.
A simple change in tadka ,can completely change the taste of dal.
I have used fresh turmeric but if you don't have it use 1/2 tsp turmeric powder.
Use soft dates so that they disintegrate in the dal.
Recipe inspired by Chef Abhishek Gupta.
Ingredients
Tur dal 1/4 cup
Moong dal 1/4 cup
Masoor dal 1/4 cup
