Lauki ka Halwa

In these quarantined times when you cannot buy sweets from outside, prepare lauki ka halwa. It's so very yummm. Use wholemilk , preferably buffalo milk for great taste.


Lauki 1/2 kg

Whole milk 600 ml

Wayer 100 ml.

Sugar 1/4 cup+ 2 tbsp

Cardamom powder 1/2 tsp

Ghee 1 tbsp

Chopped Pistachio 1 tbsp


  1. Wash, peel and grate lauki.

  2. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and saute lauki for a minute.

  3. Now add 100 ml water and 100 ml milk and give it two pressure.

  4. Once the pressure cools down ,tranfer to a deep pan and add remaining milk.

  5. Cook till milk evaporates.

  6. Stir from time to time to avoid milk from sticking to the pan.

  7. Once milk almost  dries out , add 1/4 cup sugar.

  8. Let sugar dissolve.

  9. Taste and add more sugar if needed.

  10. Now stir continuously on medium high flame till the halwa is completely dry.

  11. Add cardamom powder.

  12. Garnish with chopped pistachio and serve warm.
