Garlic bread

If you are new to bread baking, it's better to practice the technique on flat breads. They don't disappoint you . Garlic Bread Sticks is one such bread.

You can enjoy Domino's style Garlic Bread Sticks at home.

The dough should be quite sticky when you start kneading it. Don't be tempted to add more flour. Trust me, a sticky dough gives a fluffier and softer bread.

Ingredients

Maida 100 gms

Milk 50 ml

Water 50 ml

Yeast 1/4 tsp

Salt 1/2 tsp

Pizza seasoning 2 tsp

Garlic Butter

Butter 1 tbsp melted

Garlic powder 1/2 tsp

Oregano 1/4 tsp

Method

  1. Take the flour in a bowl.

  2. Add milk. Mix.

  3. Now add water little by little till there is no dry flour and it's all mixed well.

  4. Do not knead .

  5. Cover and leave it for 30 minutes.

  6. This process of mixing flour and dough and letting it rest for sometime is called autolyse.

  7. This helps in developing gluten and relaxing the dough. Which in turn reduces kneading time.

  8. Now tranfer the dough to clean counter top.

  9. Add sugar and yeast.

  10. Mix it well.

  11. Sprinkle salt all over the dough and start kneading.

  12. If you find the dough is tight add one tbsp water at a time and continue keading.

  13. The dough should feel very sticky.

  14. Knead using the heel of your palms.

  15. Push the dough outward , then fold it back, rotate it a little and push again.

  16. Incorporate the oil slowly while kneading.

  17. Knead for good 12-15 minutes.

  18. Slowly you will see that the dough has turned smooth and is not sticking to your hands.

  19. The dough would become smooth and supple like baby's bums.

  20. Now sprinkle 1/2 tsp pizza seasoning on the dough. Knead for a minute so that it is distributed uniformly in the dough.

  21. Now grease a bowl or container.

  22. I prefer a flat bottom pan or container with straight sides.

  23. Transfer the dough in the container, turn it over so that it's covered with oil.

  24. Cover the container with a lid or plastic wrap.

  25. Mark the container with a marker.

  26. This will help you know when the dough has doubled.

  27. It will take anywhere between an hour to two to double in size depending on the temperature of your kitchen.

  28. Turn the dough over lightly floured counter top.

  29. Press it with light hands to release all gas.

  30. Take a baking sheet. Grease it with butter generously.

  31. Sprinkle some pizza seasoning.

  32. Roll the dough into a 8" circle.

  33. Spread garlic butter.

  34. Sprinkle 1/2 tsp pizza seasoning.

  35. Fold the dough over to get a semi circle.

  36. Pinch the edges to seal.

  37. Transfer on the prepared baking tray.

  38. Brush with some Garlic Butter.

  39. Cover with a plastic wrap.

  40. It will double in size in about 30 minutes.

  41. Meanwhile preheat your oven to 190 degrees Celsius.

  42. Using a dough scraper or a sharp knife make six cuts length wise, only half way through.

  43. Brush with some Garlic Butter and bake until golden.

  44. Internal temperature should read 200 farenheit .

  45. Remove on a wire rack. Brush remaining Garlic Butter.

  46. Serve warm.
