Kairi Pyaaz ( Raw Mango and Onion) ki Chutney

I remember my grandmother saying that if you have to step out in summers ,always have raw mango or raw onion. These two will protect you from heat stroke. That's why probably we always had Aam Panna stocked during hot summer months and raw onion salad was invariably part of lunch menu.

This beautiful pink chutney is a combination of these two wonder ingredients. It's tangy and sweet and salty. As long as raw mangoes are available , this chutney is a staple on our dining table.

As you all know my recipes are not very high on chili. So you can add more green chili as per your taste.

To give a darker pink color use whole Kashmiri Red Chili instead of green chili and red chilli powder.


Raw Mango 1 cup chopped

Onion 3/4 cup chopped

Ginger 1 tsp

Green Chili 1

Salt to taste

Sugar 1 1/2 tsp

Red Chili powder 1/2 tsp


  1. Grind everything thing together into a coarse paste.

  2. You won't need water as onions will release enough juice.

  3. Taste and adjust seasoning.

  4. This chutney should be tangy and sweet.

  5. Store it in the fridge in a glass bottle.

  6. Would stay fresh for a week.
