Mango Shake

The quintessential summer drink of India. Served in different parts of the country in different avatars.

For many families it is part of lunch during the entire season. Some like it with purees, some with rice.

I enjoy it with purees and even as a dessert post meals

You can use any mango to make Mango Shake. I generally use a combination of Bainganapalli and Sindoori or Kesar.

Sugar can be adjusted as per taste and it also depends on the sweetness of mangoes. I have used raw sugar but you can use white sugar also.


Mango chopped 3 cups

Milk 1/2 cup

Water 1/2 cup

Raw Sugar 1/2 cup

Pistachio flakes for garnishing


  1. Wash, peel and roughly chop the mangoes.

  2. In a blender add mangoes, water ,milk and sugar.

  3. Churn well to get a homogeneous mixture.

  4. Serve chilled ,garnished with pistachio flakes

  5. It can also be served with a scoop of ice cream.

  6. Ice Cream flavors that go well with mango Shake are : Vanilla, Mango and Kesar Pista.
